The Abuser Impact Programme

The Abuser Impact Programme is a four-week, two-hour programme designed to help abusers recognise the devastating impact of their violence on the family home.

Participants are encouraged to confront the harmful effects of their actions and reflect on the underlying causes of their behaviour, including the influence of childhood experiences and family dynamics.

Delivered online, the programme fosters self-awareness, accountability, and personal responsibility, offering abusers the opportunity to acknowledge the need for change and seek further professional support to address and challenge their violent behaviour.

Referral criteria

The Abuser Impact Programme accepts referrals based on the following criteria:

1. Eligibility: The individual must be an adult who has displayed violent or abusive behaviour within the family home.

2. Willingness to Engage: The individual must demonstrate a willingness to participate in the programme and engage with the process of self-reflection and change.

3. Commitment to Change: Referrals are for those who are open to exploring the root causes of their behaviour and are committed to taking responsibility for their actions.

4. Online Access: The individual must have access to the internet and the ability to participate in an online format for the duration of the programme.

5. Safeguarding Considerations: Referrals will be assessed to ensure that the individual poses no immediate risk to the safety of others. If there are concerns regarding ongoing risk, appropriate safeguarding measures must be in place before acceptance into the programme.

Referrals can be made by the individual themselves or by professionals working with them. All referrals will be reviewed to ensure suitability for the programme.
